Default help me please

my pc got a virus and i had to wipe and reinstall windows but it didn't recognize my nic. i opened up the pc and her's the numbers i found

hp p/n:5488-8907

s/n 07-036-009952

reva

can somebody help me i cant do anything with out my net

The important numbers are not on the inside, they are on the outside. You're half-way there... you figured out it was an HP machine. Now determine what model your HP machine is then go here:

Note: My extra HP machine has the model number written right on the front of the machine.

ummm not exactly this inst the original board in this machine it used to be a compaq but i think the nic is the same

Is that pc speak or geek speak? Talk English and I might try to help. Have you been hiding in a closet for the past 7 years. If you have a Compaq pc you get support from HP (or if you prefer Compaq then by all means go for it). If you have a Compaq pc why did you say it was an HP in post #2? ie: hp p/n:5488-8907
I think you're more confused than I.

"this inst".... does that mean "this install", "this installation", "this instrument, or "this instructor"? See what happens when you speak geek speak?
