Question NetGear MA401 Wireless PC suddenly stopped working

I purchased a new NetGear MA401 Wireless PC Card for my son's laptop one month ago. Everything was up and running fine until he told me a couple days ago, it wouldn't connect to the internet. Everything I have checked seems fine, but the icon indicated "poor link quality 0%". I am sitting right next to the router! The system recognizes the card when I take it out and put it back in, but the light on it flashes, and it never find the connection. The driver is the most current. Any thoughts?

Did son make any hardware or software changes when the problem occurred?

Have you tried uninstalling the driver/software then reinstalling?

There have been no hardware or software changes. I tried to update the driver, but I have the latest version. Not sure specifically how to remove and reinstall the driver. If you can walk me thru it, I will give it a try. Thanks..

Forgot to mention - I also did a system restore to almost a month ago, when it was working in case son did something he's not aware of, but no luck.

Open Device Manager and click the + button next to Networking. This will show all NIC devices. Right click each device (there may only be one) and left click uninstall.

Thanks - Have tried it several times - no luck. I even tried restoring the system to a point before the card was initialy installed and started there. Still no luck. The Network Connections in my control panel shows "wireless connection unavailable" Could it be that the card just died for no apparent reason? The light just flashes on....

In that same screen where your network connections are, right click the connection, then left click Repair. It's also in the menu on the left side of the screen. See if that does any good.

Also give me a report from Device Manager about the Wlan device and see if any NIC devices are flagged as having a problem.
