Needed help finding the right usb driver
Problem started when i got a SATA hd, 160gb for 59 bucks at mirocenter.
so i installed win xp pro on it, made it the boot disk, installed sp1 and sp2
did not have my media card reader connected
all 3 media card readers work, i tested them at BB, friends laptops and desktops.
so all 3 card readers work on their puters
when i connect them on my puter, no go, using usb.
when i try to update drivers, it tells me install failed
remember these cards worked on my puter on my master ide hd.
i installed 2 SATA hds, installed win xp pro on one SATA, and wiped the win xp pro from the master ide hd.
cards are: 2... compact flash card reader.. model cr-v7-uc
1. CYPRESS SM-CF 0.76
there was a problem intalling this hardware, usb storage device,
an error occured during the installion of the device
the data is invalid
i know its a driver problem.
i inserted the sp2, the sp1 and the orginal Win xp cd...but no go.
it does not find the driver.
anyone know what are the names of the drivers?
i went to BB, connected my media card reader, copied the 2 drivers,
disk.sys and partmgr.sys
but windows is looking for an inf file. where in my cds can i find it? compressed in a cab somwhere?
2. second problem..does not find my hp 5 printer either.
the only thing i can think of is to uninstall sp2, if that does not work, then uninstall sp1
and if that does not work..then start from scratch. wipe the hd and install win xp pro. with the media card installed.
i hate to start from scratch so....any ideas?
