Default xp won't recognize sata dvd burner

hi i just tried to install a Lite-On LH-20A1S SuperAllwrite SATA DVD Burner on my xp sp2 computer using a ide to sata motherboard adapter.it shows up perfectly in the bios but no where in xp device manager, my computer, disk manager. the drawer opens and closes and thats it. i did a driver scan and it showed up fine there i don't know what to do to get xp to recognize it any suggestions at all? thank you

SATA controllers require a driver. Install the driver and it should work fine.
