Default DRIVER NEEDED: NETGEAR WG111T wlan usb adapter (Windows XP Professional x64)

Hello,
I'm looking for a 64-bit driver for my NETGEAR WG111T wlan usb adapter (ATHEROS chipset).

My operating system is Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
I tried google & driverguide & planetamd64.com & many other sites, but I didn't find anything

that's really frustrating
thank you for help!
regards,

Willi

Netgear do not offer x64 drivers for any of their kit. They don't currently have any plans to do so. Read http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/N101513.asp?answer_id=76797135 and the Netgear forums for more info - then send it back and go buy Linksys.

Default Re: DRIVER NEEDED: NETGEAR WG111T wlan usb adapter (Windows XP Professional x64)

This may be late for Willy but this is the top google search for "64 bit wg111t driver" so plenty of guests here may get my help.

The solution I have is quite simple. I use Vista premium x64 so someone else can test it on Xp but it should work.

  1. Get the 2.1 setup for Vista and install it.
  2. Go to your NETGEAR folder wherever you installed it to (Program Files x86 for me) and copy the DRIVERS folder to your desktop.
  3. Uninstall the smartwizard and remove everything in the NETGEAR folder.
  4. Plug in your WG111T.
  5. Go to Device Manager and find your WG111T in the list, Right Click and Update Driver.
  6. Browse to the DRIVERS folder on your desktop when it asks where to look for the driver and the WG111T will install. It should popup with a little message when it is completed but you will not be online yet.

I dont know what you would do in Xp x64 system but I believe it has its own wireless manager like Vista and should be quite simalar.
  7. IN VISTA go to the Connect To button in your Start menu, It should be under Computer and Network, it should show your router along with a 5 bar network strength graphic.
  8. For me all I had to do was double click on the network and put in my WEP hex key and it conected.

I hope this helps and one of the visitors will be nice enough to post the Xp version of my last section here once it is found.
I'll be posting this little guide around other sites too.
