I have a Compaq Persario 1200 Laptop... When I try to log on, I get a message saying ( Operating System not found )....need help in correcting.

Sounds like a hardware problem. One usually sees this message if there is a non-bootable floppy in the drive or if the PC does not recognize the hard drive. Assuming that there is no floppy in the drive, try going into the CMOS or viewing the post information to see if the hard drive is being detected. (I am not familar with you laptop, but this may involve hitting a key such as ESC or F1.)

If the hard dive is not being found, then sometimes taking it out and reseating it will solve the problem.

If the drive is recognized, then you might try using your emergency start-up floppy to boot up and then sys the hard driver.

Hi Terry this is Oscar, I have a Presario 12xl300 and it also will not boot. Thats because my Operating System had been deleted. You need to reboot your notebook using the compaq recovery disk. Thats the only to fix this problem. Good luck.
