i have an Compaq DVD-ROM SD-C2402 9Toshiba)that use to work with Windows 98 but since i have XP it doesn't anymore! Can't find an update! HELP Please!

Please explain your term "it doesn't work"

1: Drive is not detected by the os and not visible in Device Manager.
2: Won't play dvd disks?
3: Won't read any kind of disks.

I am having the same problem...
1) XP does see drive in D/M
2) will not play DVD (getting error "no valid drive/disc found)
windows error (Windows can not read from disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows)
3) Will play CD's
