I have recently removed an invasive dialer installed by stealth on a computor running xp
A virus scan now shows no remaining viruses ,spybot indicates nothing.
The dialer however has no sound inspite of being indicated as enabled and ON.
Anyone any ideas?
Will reinstalling the driver have any effect?

Having read up about the AT command set I have managed to get the sound back.
for anybody interested I used.

Control Panel-phone and modem properties-properties-advanced

In extra initial set up commands section- entered M1
there are in fact 4 modem commands

M0 speaker is always off
M1 speaker is on during callest establishment, but off when
receiving carrier
M2 speaker is always on
M3 speaker is off when receiving carrier and during dialing
but on during answering
You can learn something new every day

Still can't work out how the dialer reset the commands
