Carlos 12-29-2003, 03:42 PM hi,
I' ve got a problem and no idea how to fix it.
In my display properties, there is only one option regarding the colours:
16 colours
Is there any way I can download anything to get more colours?
thanx
Jerry K 12-29-2003, 09:48 PM Yes... install current video card/chipset drivers.
If you don't know how/where, please post a request in the DRIVER REQUEST FORUM, Video Adapters section but be sure to include a description of your video card or chipset. :gabby:

I'm also facing the same problem. I had windows 2000 b4. I formatted the System for Installing the Win 98. B4 formatting I copied the Display driver(It is Matrox Graphics MilleniumG200AGP) using a Driver utility. After Install Windows 98 I installed the display driver. But I can have only 16 colors. What I have to do for solve this problem. I downloaded another Driver(Which is an .exe file) from driverguide.com. But when executing the same it is showing an error message the driver you are trying to unpacking is write protected.
Hopes your immediate reply

try updated your driver it sounds to me like you have loaded the wrong display adapter go to control panel/system/devicemanger/click on the display ad read info on what is loaded than dump old driver or you could just remove it than add new hardware It helps lots if you know the exact name of display you can get info by going to programs/accesseries/system info see tools great place to get help

I would go into the system in from your start menu
this will give you a great idea as to what is happening in system
as for 2000 operating system 98 best or window xp pro rocks if you have the hardware ram etc

Have you fixed your problem yet if not
Check your systems manual that came with your computer. find the graphics chip that is installed on your motherboard. Go to divices click display adapters find your graphics chip and down load it to window.
After you download it you will have got to device manage click on you adapter and let your computer load the driver off of your C:\ drive
My adapter was manufactered by sis it is a ess620. I found it on drivers dot com.
Hope this helps

I am having the same problem. I have a Compaq V500 monitor with a Windows 98 operating system. Device settings shows the display adapter as Standard PCI Graphics adapter (VGA). I have tried installing a new device driver (sp15759.exe) downloaded from the driverguide with no success.
Any more ideas?????

i had a game crash on me and it would not let me uninstall it for some reason so i reloaded 98se and lost all my 256 and 32 bit drivers i have a CTX p2 233mhz samsung syncmaster ne6 moniter (Standard PCI Graphics adapter (VGA). ) so any ideas how i can get them back short of buying a new vido card?
Jenifer 02-06-2004, 01:33 AM try going to your computer manufacturer's website, and see if you can download the correct driver from there...same thing happened to me, and that is how I fixed it...once you are done reboot, and you should be ready to go

i would but CTX is no longer in business
marcus 02-09-2004, 04:26 AM identify your display adapter and then go to add new hardware and please look for a better source for your driver if your driver is not in your data base on your windows cd.
starmanmike 04-28-2007, 04:45 PM I'm having the same problem. I downloaded and ran the .exe file which created a folder with all the .inf files in. There are two subfolders, "32bit" and "win9x". Which one is my driver going to be in? I am using win98SE.
I have a Compaq V500 monitor (nothing too grand!) but nowhere in the .inf files is there a file called V500, and I have absolutely no idea which of the many .inf files is the compatible one, if indeed there is one at all.
Whatever I do, windows keeps insisting that I have a "Standard Adapter" which is why I can only get 16 colours up.
