I recently installed a Maxtor Diamond Back Plus 9 )80 GB) and it doesn"t work
I've tried every combination I can think of (jumper settings). I've switched out the cables, and i've attempted the Cylinder Limitation Jumper. However, the BIOS refuses to detect it, and if I set it to master, it won't detect the first drive. Even if the first drive is unplugged it still won't detect it (it's internal)

No physical description of the Maxtor 80 gb. drive....
No mention of how it connects to the pc....
No mention of how you have it installed/configured....
No description of "first" drive and how it's installed/configured....
No description of bios settings....
No information from device manager....

really not much of anything all equals.... NO HELP can possibly be offered.

This is a typical request that I see here daily by the dozens. When are you folks going to wake up and start realizing we cannot do magic here and cannot read minds?

Is it really that difficult to provide the folks you're asking help from with basic information so that they might be able to help or are we suppose to just continue trying to imagine all this pertinant and needed information and offer an answer based on what we visualize as possibly a wild guess? :sleep:
