??? while the above quote contains English words, the arrangement is difficult to translate into english phrases. Can you rearrange where it can be decoded into English? :gabby:

gosh, this one is worse than the previous....
First, if you have Windows 98 installed and running properly, you don't need any drivers. Windows operating system will provide the necessary support for this drive.
mtmatapi.sys is a DOS driver and should not be used on a system running Windows 98. This dos driver should only be used to enable the drive in DOS.
You won't find it on the Windows 98 installation disk because it's not a Microsoft file... it's a Mitsumi file.
You have not clarified how you have the cd-rom drive installed. Please do so if you expect further help;
example:
cd-rom drives should be connected to the secondary ide port... not the primary ide port. If the cd rom drive is single (no other drives connected to the same ide port) it should be jumpered as MASTER. The ribbon cable (stripped side) should be connected to pin 1 of the drive and also to pin 1 of the ide port header. Connecting a cd-rom drive to the same port as the hard drive can cause problems.... both with the cd-rom drive and the hard drive.
You also failed to state what type of ide port your connecting the drive to... eg: built-in or add-on. If built-in, do you have the secondary port enabled in pc bios and do you have the drive connected to the secondary port?
Please try to provide the details needed for us to help you. :hdspin:
I,m sorry this not explane right and I thank you for help me In the system info device with problems it said driver mtmminip.mpd not installed then file size drivers not installed file date same thing . Windows 98 will not installed it I change the cables around try see if it work I used the 2nd cable for CD first for Harddrive. That didn't work so I try frist cable for the Cd. Then I try used the sound card with new cable I get the error at bootup Floopy disk (s) fail (40) I am used the ide port that on my computer no add on of any kind I also switch CD rom player to make sure it was good same thing with the 3 that I try I do have plug and play and it will installed other hardware just not the CD rom driver Thank you for your help and I hope I done better explane it Thank you BJ

Does your pc have built-in primary and secondary ide ports?
If so, are they enabled in pc bios?
Is your hard drive connnected to the primary ide port and jumpered as Master?
Is your cd rom connected to the secondary ide port and jumpered as Master?
Are any other drives connected to either port? If so then describe each and how it's connected/jumpered.
Please answer these specific questions.
