I have a Teac CD-ROM and everytime I put a cd in it, any 'autorun' program will not run. Also there isn't any listing for the CD-ROM under the Devices tab in System. Another thing is that for any CD I put in the drive it won't bring up the CD 'name' or 'title'. I'm running Win98SE on an Athlon XP 1800+ platform. Any help would greatly be appreciated! Thank you and have a GREAT NEW YEAR!!!

Getting a cd-rom drive to autoplay a disk is sorta like withdrawing money from a bank account... ya gotta have some $'s there first. In your case, you must have the drive properly installed and properly detected by the os before you will get it to autoplay or even basically manually play a cd disk. If drive is not listed in device manager, then it's not installed properly. The first thing I would suggest is to check your drive and make sure it's properly connected, jumpered, and connected to a working ide port... preferably the secondary port. If the port isn't enabled in pc bios or if device manager reports a problem with the ide port, or if cables are not connected properly, then Windows can not detect and install the drive.

Additional information/hints/help can be found by reading our DRIVER REQUEST FORUM, CD-ROM section requests and comments. Also 5 minutes of reading our CD-RW Help Guide might shed some light on your problem. :hdspin:
