I have replaced my motherboard and downloaded the drivers for the cd-rw but although the drive recognises cd's it does not recognise dvd's.
What i'm I missing?

First you missed posting in the correct forum. "Tech to Tech" is not the correct forum for your cd-rw/dvd problem.....so it was moved to the correct forum.

DVD drives require compatible dvd decoding software to be installed if you plan on watching/playing a dvd disk. Windows operating system does not offer dvd read support. (if Windows actually is your opearating system... you gave no clues). Last you cannot download what does not exist. There are no Windows drivers for internal ide cd-type drives. Only dos drivers exist and should not be used on a system running Windows.
