My fellow PC enthusiast, You're not giving me much to go on, but let's suppose that you're running windows 98 SE or prior. First of all, did you uninstall your previous modem drivers prior to installing the new one? If not, then go to control panel (add/remove hardware) and look for your previous modem, then uninstall, if your PC still doesn't recognize your new modem after restarting, then at windows pop-up (found new device) choose, you will locate driver and try going to the folder or directory that you know contains said drivers, if that doesn't help either, then let windows try to locate drivers, you could also try to install the divers through your modem applet in control panel and if none of these suggestions work, then get about 10 or 15 buicks and go to Comp USA, Best Buy, Office Depot, etc. and buy a new one that comes with an install CD. Hope this helped you solve your problem. Sergio Titus 10-09-2003, 11:48 PM As you might know I"m having a problem in the PCI communication device thread. I'm also having a problem recongnizing the modem for my computer. I'm using a AOpen modem. As you might know it has a CD not a drivers disk. This is my problem: I have the AOPEN CD for my modem , I just reformatted my computer and I don't know which one is the right one for me since they offer many drivers, AOpen FM56 PL, PLM , SM , SLM, USB ( these are the words that follow AOpen FM56 -- ) So I don't know which one to use.. can I get some help? Besides that I tried all of them, but it doesn't seem to recognize the modem. I don't know what I can do. |
