I have a server at a remote location that I occasionally need to reboot. It is (at this point, anyway) a WinME machine. I can VPN into it to do most of my maintenance, but I cannot reboot it because of passwords, etc. Does anyone know of a way that I can get past all that and reboot remotely and get back to the desktop?
I will probably be changing this out for a Win2K Pro system in a few months. Will this be any easier/more difficult with W2K?
TIA,

You might want to try RealVNC (Was known as VNC) @ http://realvnc.com. Its free. This lets you use the computer as if you were in front of it, and you can shut it down, and log back on if you need to. I use it all the time.

Another option you have is Netmeeting. In the latest version (3.0 or 3.1 or something like that), you can setup Remote Desktop Sharing, which essentially does the same thing as RealVNC.

I forgot to mention:

Ditch Windows ME (if this is an important server). My HP comes with it on the Restore disc, and it always causes problems for me. You will find many more advantages to Windows 2000.

Win2k is also stable, and supposedly runs faster then ME.
