I installed a different CD-ROM (a Momitsu 24X, model CDM J516) in an old IBM running Win 95. After downloading a driver for the CD-ROM and running the install file, I go through the install procedure. It's kinda the old fashioned installation method with DOS-looking screens, but I don't get any error messages. At one point I am prompted for the path to the MSCDEX.EXE file which I type in and I accept the defaults at that point and save. The next screen gives me the error message:

Input past end of file in line 0 of module MMT8X at address 0721:1257
Press any key to return to system.

I don't know what's going on here but when I attempt to install the CD-ROM from Control Panel, Add New Hardware, etc., I can't find any .inf files in the folder where my install.exe was copied to. Obviously the driver was not installed and Windows doesn't see my CD-ROM. Any suggestions?

There are no WINDOWS drivers for internal ide cd rom drives. Only DOS drivers exist. Do not use DOS drivers in Windows OS. Remove the dos drivers and allow Windows to manage your cd rom drive. If your drive is not detected automatically by Windows, then you have ide chipset/controller problems. Read some of the requests/comments in our DRIVER REQUEST FORUM, CD-ROM Section and also our cd-rw help guide. :)
