Hi,

I have a question regarding the 56i ISA version modem from Diamond. I have installed the modem in Plug-n-Pray mode so that the BIOS detects it and it is available as a PnP device when detecting hardware. The problem is that Windows 2000 does not have a driver built in.

I have searched DriverGuide and found a number of drivers for the 56i variants (all with various features that I don't think the vanilla 56i ISA has). Some driver's either don't install or don't work.

Has anyone had this same problem and if so, have they found a driver that works for them? Note that I've visited the Diamond support page at...

http://www.diamondmm.com/support/PCDRIVERS.HTM

...but it seems that the only driver available for the 56i ISA is for Win98.

Thanks for reading,
Sheldon

Dear Sheldon:

I couldn't find a driver for the Supraexpress 56i ISA card but I did something which provided a usable driver. While installing Windows XP I needed a driver for the modem. I had previously downloaded and upgraded the modem from the Diamondmm.com website to upgrade the firmware for the modem to the V90 standard. The zipped file name is V90_207_.exe which generates a V90 folder with drivers in it (since the original driver will not recognize the new firmware) which are usable as drivers for XP and I'm sure are compatible to Windows 2000. If you need the file I can email it to you from Shiuking@netzero.net. I hope this resolves your problem.

Thank you.
