Please can anyone help? I have an advent laptop which has a V90 K56Flex HSP PCI Modem installed. After I upgraded to XP the modem propertied are all correct (supposedly?) but when I try to connect to the internet using AOL the modem can't detect a dialing tone. This is driving me mad as I have been through all drivers on this site but nothing is working

Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated

Thank You

Pam...with no nails and no hair!!!!....:(

If you did a clean install of XP and didnt upgrade to XP, you lost your modem drivers!
There are many V90 K56Flex HSP PCI modems! What would help, take the modem out of the case and get the maker of the modem ot get the FCC number! You need to know who made the chip for this modem!
If that fails, take the old modem out and get a new on, they are inexpensive! The upside is a new modem will come with the drivers!

Don...thanks for a quick reply

I did upgrade to XP (i'm not that good at this sort of thing, so wouldn't attempt a "clean install"...My driver properties say that the modem is working properly as is the driver, digitally signed and everything. Could it be a network adaptor fault not picking up the dial tone? when I pick the phone of the hook from another location after trying to get online it gives the engaged tone and I have to unplug the line from the laptop and re insert, any thoughts on that?

thanks again, much appreciated!
