hi i got a problem when upgrading my os from ME to WIN 2000. The pc can not shut down automatically as ussual. but the problem doesn't happened when i use ME.

It's usually a program running in the background. Before you shut down, hit ctrl-alt-delete, click on Task Manager, and see if there's any programs running (Applications tab). If there are, end task them and see if you can then shut down normally. If that isn't the cause, try the Processes tab. I had this problem with a keyboard driver once. I narrowed it down, and replaced the driver.

click "start"
then go to "run"
type "msconfig"
in "general" tab
choose diagnostic start up
if that doesn't work use selective start up and and toggle between the the "processes"
like first select only"system.ini"

etc....
and restart if the system asks for restart
and good luck as i had the same problem and i solved it by the above procedure and patience
