I had a Sis7018 soud-card, i had installed DirectX9 and never works again.
When i try to run some application that use DirectSound the system shows a fault to KERNEL32.

What is wrong?????

OS: Windows 98
Mother: PCHIPS 810 LMR (SIS730)
PROC: XP 1800

Had a similar problem. Uninstall DirectX 9 and install DirectX 8.01 instead. My problem then disappeared. I think it is a compatability problem between DX9 and Win 98

Would you care to provide exact instructions for uninstalling DirectX 9?
Your post is pretty much worthless without those instructions?

I get really frustrated with people that state "do this, do that" then never take a few minutes to explain the exact steps taken to accomplish the task.

DirectX 9 doesn't have an uninstall program. Yes they say there are programs to accomplish this but I've yet to see a successful uninstall of DirectX 9 without a reformat of the hard drive and reloading the os. So.... I as well as other members are curious just how this feat is done.

Is it not also a fact that DirectX 9 is available in 2 versions? One for Windows 9x/ME and another for Windows NT/2000/XP?
