I have a Conner (now owned by Seagate) EXTERNAL hard drive...Model DS30214P. It has it's own power supply, and an attached cord with a 25-pin PARALLEL connector. I've been told it's about 200 MB; it appears to power-up OK, and it was used by a past owner & friend with an older laptop. (She says there is data on the drive she'd like to have if I can retrieve it.)

It has no drivers with it, and neither Win 98SE nor Win XP Home Edition can "see" it when attached. I've searched the Net for info on this drive, with no luck. Not here at DriverGuide.com, nor at Seagate's site, nor elsewhere.

Any ideas on how I can make this drive usable? Any assistance would be appreciated. Robin

You first must detemine what interface the actual drive itself has, eg: ide or scsi. Then you must locate a port driver... eg: parallel to ide or parallel to scsi.
SCM Micro (http://www.scmmicro.com/connectivity/downloads.html) has such files posted.
A second alternative would be to physically remove the drive and connect it internally to your pc's ide port or scsi controller (if it has a scsi interface). You are not limited to using the drive externally. Once installed in the pc, you will be able to retrieve needed files or backup to other media. :)
