AC'97 is not a sound card chip nor a model number. It's a term adopted by Microsoft in 1997 defining sound standards. AC'97 technology has been replaced by HD technology beginning around 2007. Almost ALL sound chips and sound cards built between 1997 and 2007 are AC'97 compliant.

VIA sound chips begin with VT-xxxx as you will see when you visit the VIA website. (www.viaarena.com/Drivers.aspx?PageID=&OSID=1&CatID=1010)

Better yet, visit the website of the pc vendor or the motherboard manufacturer for proper drivers. The drivers you get from VIA are generic drivers.
