Hello. I downloaded the Soundblaster Pro driver (http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=67038) for Windows 3.11 for my old Dos/Windows Gaming pc. Whenever I try to launch a dos game from Windows I get an error from Windows saying, "Cannot play sound: The Soundblaster is being used by another program." Is there any way around this? I have tried useing ExitExec.exe, but that never works. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Why not just running the game from plain DOS ?

Because it's more convenient.

Do as instructed if you want the device to work. Good advice was given... so it's up to you where to go from here. If you're expecting some miracle to happen.... it's not likely to. Or figure out what other program is using the device and kill it.

Windows 3.1 is not even an operating system. It's simply a dos graphical interface for DOS. And it's severerly outdated by todays standards. Support for it was written in the days of dos and is much different than modern os's like Windows 95 ~ XP.

Surely you're willing to sacrifice convenience for a working device.

That's why I tried using ExitExec(a program that exits out of Windows, launches a DOS program and reloads Windows). Maybe someone here knows another application that does the same thing, becuase I havent had too much luck with ExitExec?

Did I say that Windows 3.11 was an os? No. Did I say that Windows XP and 3.11 have a lot in common? No.

Surely you're willing to sacrifice convenience for a working device.I am, as a last resort. I would rather have both. I was simply asking a question if there is any way around a minor inconvienence.
