I have a DELL Inspiron LapTop. I keep getting an error Windows Media Player cannot burn the files to the CD. Verify that the disc is clean and not damaged. If necessary, select a slower recording speed or try a different brand of blank discs.

I tried a memorex cd and I got the same error. I think this is a software related problem which needs an updated driver or update firmware. Any help would be most appreciated.

There is no updated driver.... the driver provided by the OS is the only driver available. If the drive reads data disks ok but won't burn then you either have a problem with the drive or the burning software. Possibly corrupt OS files. Run "SFC /scannow" from a command prompt. System File Checker... it will rewrite all corrupt os files. Then retry burning again.

Or you can try installing a 3rd. party recording software and test with it.
