SCSI drives never require a driver when used in any Windows OS beginning with Windows 95. Windows 2000 provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk. Compatible 3rd. party recording software is required in order to burn disks.

Just like IDE drives require connection to a working IDE controller, scsi drives require connection to a working and properly configured scsi controller. That means the scsi controller must be visible in Device Manager and reported as working by Device Manager. Once accomplished, the system will auto-detect and install the drive without user intervention.
