Hello, I am not computer literate, but here goes, I am told my sound card is embedded in my board, how do I determine what soundcard I have? I just had to format my hard drive and I do not have the driver for my soundcard. It is supposed to be a crystal semi conductor card. Any suggestions? Please?

Hai
I hv also earlier this type of doubt. Then I have used a Magnifying glass
to check the sound port details on the Mother Board and found the details written on the On-Board sound chip. U too can use the same trick.
Thanking you

if your computer is a brand name computer you may be able to go to the site of the manufactuer and go to support, feed in the model of your computer and the operating system. Then if your computer isn't tooooo old they may have the driver for you. As for the number, you can also find the maker of you motherboard and model number. Many times it is at the bottom left corner of your board. If just numbers do a internet search with the numbers and chances are you will find out what you have.
good luck

if it doesnt say CrystalSemiconductors above the number on the chip, it will have CL (Cyrus Logic) in line with the number.
different names, same people, same chip......
no need to look for drivers though, microsoft supplies them
