That's normal and only indicates that downloading has finished or completed.
The file that you downloaded will be in whatever folder you choose to download it to. That's why it's important to remember where you downloaded it to.
When Firefox is open, click on Tools, Options, Main tab, Download section. There you have options to change the way that downloads occur. If there's anything there that you need to change, just click with the mouse to your liking and then click OK.

The downloaded file vanishes from downloaded folder on completion. The download window in FF shows the list of previously downloaded files but "open & Open containing folder" options both disabled.
where do i look for the downloaded file now? i did the search with file name on my C drive (The one and only) but no success:furious:
does the vista deletes the file as some kinda of protection of wht? i m new in vista.

vista is obfuscating your executable files and you probably need to go to the folder options and clear the 'hide all registered file types option' under 'file options' in the windows explorer area.

In the Tools --> Options ---> Main tab, under the Downloads section, you have 2 choices.
1. Save files to
2: Always ask me where to save files
In my settings, the Always ask me where to save files is ticked by default.
If you choose Save file to instead, then it will always place downloaded
files in the folder of your choosing at the time of downloading.
If you choose Save files to, then you must type into the box, the folder
where you wish downloaded files to go.
Show the Downloads window when downloading a file should be ticked.
Close it when all downloads are finished should be un-ticked.
Note: the above settings are my choice only and the default settings. Yours may differ depending on your personal choice.

No.... Kaspersky has nothing to do with it.
And no the file doesn't "go away", the download window just goes blank when the download is complete. The file is still where you told it to be downloaded to. What is happening is normal.... it's just the way that Firefox does downloads by default... there is nothing wrong. You can make changes to suit your needs very easily by ticking or un-ticking the boxes.
