computer is a laptop; toshiba dynabook ss mx/395ls
This model is japanese only. I got the other drivers for it from the japanese driver download site http://asp.fresheye.com/pc/?func=pi&c2=ANY&category=131020&keyword=%22SS%20MX%2F395%22+%22Windows%28R%29XP%22 &srt=IntB&order=d&cpg=10&session=20090216203931095

I used everest corperate edition and this is what it gave me

Analog Devices AD1981HD @ Intel 82801GBM ICH7-M - High Definition Audio Controller

I have tried a whole lot of drivers and they all say driver not found when i run thte installer. Is there some sorta hack i have to do get this to work??

running the installer would not work. using have disk opption i get 'cannot start code 10'

Then your only other choice is to contact the laptop manufacturer and ask them if one is available.

I got the sound to work using the drive from HP at this site.

I did the have disk method. the thumb wheel on the side of the laptop works fine.

I'm surprised that a HP driver works on a Toshiba notebook but I'm glad you got one that works and posted a link to it. I'm sure other members will appreciate it as well.

I tested the fornt pannel headphone and mic jack. they work fine. There is no mamanget software installed, just the drivers. It all seems to be working fine for me so far. :)
