C-MEDIA AC97 AUDIO DEVICE- V 5.12.01.0051 is not a sound chip nor is it a sound device model. Cmedia makes sound chipset and AC 97 is only a term adopted by Microsoft in 1997 definding sound standards. And V 5.12.01.0051 is a software version number...
If you are unable to identify the sound chip then tell us if it's integrated on the motherboard or add-on and say what is the brand and model of the pc it came installed in.

There's 2 kinds of motherboards, ie: retail and OEM. If your's is an OEM board, then you must say what the pc brand and model is. If it's on a retail motherboard, then you must also say what the brand and model of the MB is. And it would help too, to say what the chipset number is as you will need that in order to get a generic driver from Cmedia. If this came in an OEM motherboard then you need to visit the vendors website to see if a driver is available. The driver from the vendor will provide more features than a generic drive will.
