rw driver????? What would this be?

fyi, optical drives never require a driver other than what is provided natively by the OS. In order to burn cd-rw disks, compatible burning software is required.

I tried burning with nero and most all of the burning software on the internet. This dvd player won't write to the blank disk.

provide some details....

What media are you using?
What are you trying to burn?
any on-screen error messages?

Will the drive READ a data or music disk?
Is the drive listed in My Computer and Device Manager?
Is the drive flagged in Device Manager as having any problems?

You should never have more than ONE burning software installed on a pc. Uninstall ALL burning software and install only ONE. Nero is one of the best burning softwares on the market. I've never had a burn failure using Nero.

The media is maxell dvd+rw. There are no problems with the drivers in device manager. The dvd player reads fine. The error mesage is no media present when there really is a blank disc in the tray.

This drive is not a dvd burner. It's a cd-rw rewritable combo dvd player drive. In order to burn dvd disks, you must have a dvd burner drive. What you have is a drive that will write to cd-r and cd-rw disks and will play dvd disks providing you have compatible 3rd party dvd decoding software installed.

This drive has never and will never burn a dvd disk since it's not a dvd burner. It will only write to cd-r and cd-rw disks.

And to burn cd-rw or cd-r disks, you must have compatible 3rd party recording software installed, (like Nero or Easy Cd Creator from Roxio).

There is no software or firmware available that will physically transform this drive into a dvd burner.

Thank you. You confirmed my suspicion that this dvd player will not write to dvds. You have saved me alot of time trying to burn dvds.
