You cannot have in internal drive with a PCMCIA interface. Internal drives have either IDE or SATA interfaces. And they do not require a driver when used in Windows 98. The OS provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk but no support for burning cd-r disks. For that task, compatible burning software like Nero or Easy Cd Burner by Roxio is required.

Is the drive listed in My Computer and Device Manager? If so, it it flagged as having a problem in Device Manager? Also does the IDE controllers section check ok in Device Manager?

New problem, old problem? Has it ever worked?
