I need any help I can get please. This is in an Acer Aspire 5050-3242 laptop. The only info. I can find besides the ones I put under the model is in a manual I downloaded and looked at. It says the computer contains a Cyberlink PowerDvd, a Cyberlink PowerProducer and an NTI CD-Maker. I think I already figured out the CD-Maker has to be bought. Can anyone help me with any of the rest of this? Driver downloads? Anyone ever even heard of Cyberlink? Anything?

The things you mentioned (bold red text) is not a proper phrase. All the names mentioned are software.

Cyberlink PowerDVD is a dvd decoding software. Needed in order to play dvd movie disks.

Cyberlink PowerProducer is a DVD Creation and Authoring Software.

NTI Cd Maker is a burning software. And not nearly as good quality as Nero or Roxio burning software.

These are not free... they must be purchased like any other copyrighted software.... or stolen from some warez site.

If you wish to purchase these softwares, you can do so right online from their respective owners websites.

All this software can also be purchased at any retail software store like Circuit City, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Sams, etc.

Optical drives never require a driver when used in Windows XP. The OS provides native support that allows the drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk. It (ie: Windows XP) contains no support for doing anything other than the tasks I listed above.

You will need the software you listed in order to burn or read dvd disks and the NTI CD Maker is optional but required to burn cd-rw disks or other tasks that Windows XP is not capable of doing.

I'm curious what happened to the software that came with the Acer pc? If this laptop came from Acer with this software installed, then you should have disks or a hidden partition on the system that will restore the system to the same condition it was in when it left the Acer factory.
