Obviously Hammacher Schlemmer didn't actually manufacture this, but it doesn't identify who did. It provides Photoimpression6 software which refers to the scanner as a crs scanner but the error messages I get are that it can't find the "camera" and that I need to connect the OmniVision CRS Scanner. Then a message pops up that the uTwainPhotoExe.exe has stopped working. I tried downloading a USB driver from the OmniVision site but that didn't work. Any ideas on resolving this. The same happened with a similar unit put out by Brookstone.

I just had the same problem. You can fix it. Microsoft didn't sign off on this hardware so windows xp and vista doesn't read the hardware. Go into the hardware on your computer and approve it and then it works just fine.
