I downloaded the Audio Driver for my pc from here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=403747&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=403745&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=2096

When I attempt to run the set up however, I get an error that says "Driver not found! Reboot your system, and run this setup again."

Is this not the correct driver or is there something else wrong?

Did you try what the error message states? According to HP, the correct driver is SP36530.exe.
It's a ADI SoundMax chipset.

I suggest you uninstall the current driver, download the driver again from HP and try it.

Yes, I did try what the error message states. I also tried uninstalling the driver and downloading again and I still get the same error message. I am guessing the problem lies somewhere else within the computer...

Did you use the original disks that came with the PC to reinstall the OS or did you use a Microsoft Windows installation disk? If you used the original install disks, it should have installed the audio driver just like it loads all other hardware device drivers.

The only thing that would cause the problem is if you used a Microsoft Windows install disk.

You might wish to try using Everest Home Edition software to see if it will locate a driver from a different source.

I found a different driver that you might want to try (SP27703.exe) available on this page: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=403750&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=403772&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1093#113165

You are using the home edition driver, use the xp pro one.
