I have an old (about 7 yrs) SB Live ct4870 sound card that I've popped into a new unit. It came with a Gateway ME OS and runs with Boston Acoustics speakers. My new OS is XP Pro.

I've tried many drivers but can't seem to find one that will work. I know there's one out there that will work as it did until the other day when my system was hit by a virus and I had to clean install the OS.

Most recent driver attempts were LiveDrvUni-Pack (Eng).exe V1.0.0.1 from Creative Technology Ltd and 7512059.exe (for CT4870/OS ME)from this site.

I've even tried using the SB system disk that came with the Gateway set up. That loads fine, and I get system sounds from the PC, but still nothing from the speakers.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

I really doubt any XP drivers were ever written by Creative Labs for this device. It's an OEM product built for companies like Gateway and Packard Bell. It the Soundblaster LIVE! 1024 family in case you want to look on the CL website.

This page might offer some help: http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?i=spec_sound_sblive_ct4870&pi=platform_eMove_iXtreme_P4

Actual download page for above: http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?i=platform_eMove_iXtreme_P4&g=2000

They (ie: Packard Bell) have Windows 2000 drivers that you should try.

You're a gem! :hail: At last, a winner. The HP Windows 2000 driver worked.
