Hi folks
I've got a Belkin Wireless PCMCIA Card F5D6020 ver 2 that I'm trying to use with WinNT 4.0
After I purchased the card, I found out that it was the ver 1 card that was compatible with NT4.0, not the ver 2 card.
Belkin support suggested I try to find third party drivers for the Atmel chipset.
I'm a bit confused. Belkin says the card's hardware was made be Intersil who says its powered by Intersil Prism 2 technology. I think Intersil Prism 2 uses the Atmel chipset.
At any rate, I've got a bunch of drivers NT4.0 drivers for Intersil Prism 2 and Atmel. I install them but, NT says no driver is registered. With the help of a networking guy at work, I've figured out that some hardware id is being read from the card. NT is looking for this id in the Regsitry (which contains the id/ids for the hardware listed in the non Belkin drivers).
In order for this to work I think I need to find out the hardware id on my Belkin card and insert it into the Registry or the non Belkin driver INF files.
Is this reasonable based on what y'all know about how drivers work in Windows NT 4.0?
Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mark
