Hi guys,
I've been on the net for hours looking for a blasted internal wireless driver for my brother's laptop.
He got a Gateway T-1631 the other day and wasn't too fond of XP, so we formatted the drive installing XP Service Pack 2 over it. We've gotten hold of a drivers pack for the laptop model, and it's restored pretty much everything - display, audio, ethernet etc, but the only thing left that doesn't seem to work is the Wireless.
Not 100% sure about the chipset name, some forums say Realtek RTL8187B, others Realtek RTL8187S but all I've gotten is drivers that don't install and if they do, they're for USB dongles or something.
In the device manager there's "Network Controller" as a yellow question mark, and three other unknown ones. Really not sure what to do - Wireless seems to be enabled in the Bios settings, and the switch is turned on hardware wise.
Any help/suggestions would be most welcome!
Many thanks,
J
