The CD reading side of the device seems to be slow. New firmware/driver, if it exists, may be helpful to me and greatly appreciated.

Has it always been slow or is this a new problem. If it's a new problem, firmware won't help and there are no driver updates since the reading support comes built into the OS.

Have you tried any optical drive testing programs to check the speed and see if it's doing it's job or not? I'm not sure but your Easy Cd Creator app may have a drive testing program included. If not, you can find them on the net by searching.

Are you getting any flags in Device Manager concerning the drive or the ide controller?
