SATA optical drives do not require a driver. SATA controllers do. Do you also have a SATA hard drive installed? If so, then you already have a SATA controller driver installed. If not then you will need to download and install the driver before the system can see your SATA optical drive. I cannot help further because your didn't describe your pc system or your motherboard.

Windows XP does not natively support SATA.... only Vista does. So you must go to your system vendor/manufacturer website to get the proper SATA controller driver.
