Hi, for some reason, I can't install my driver. There's no sound coming out of my speakers. It said in the EVEREST summary that my sound device is the SiS 7012. So i went to the SIS website and downloaded the driver for SiS 7012. I extracted the ZIP files and ran the SETUP.EXE file. As I'm installing the file, two error windows pop up. The first one says "-536870397" and the second one says "Fail to install audio driver for Windows XP. Setup will exit." Then the setup closes down. I don't know what is wrong or why it keeps on doing this. Is it possible that I have the wrong driver? Or do I also need to install another driver as well?

You need to provide the following information:

1: For a desktop or laptop?

2: Model of your HP pc?

It is a desktop.
As for the model of my HP pc, i'm not quite sure. Where would I find this information?

I'm not sure if this is answering your question regarding the model number.
On my monitor, it says "hp pavilion mx704". On the bottom of my computer, it says "hp pavilion a808x"

Pavilion mx704 is a 17" monitor: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=413533&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en

Pavilion A808x is the proper model number of your pc.

And your sound chipset is Realtek not SIS (according to the HP webpage for this model).

I just wanted to tell you I have EXACTLY the same problem, even down to the error messages given trying to install the SiS 7012 drivers (-536870397 and failed to install for XP), I must have spent 3 days trying to find a solution to no avail. The driver installation did once get past those two error messages but I still get "Cannot install this hardware" during the Add New Hardware Wizard.

If you get anywhere at all, please do let me know what you did to fix the problem.
