I'm trying to install a Ethernet adapter and an old Panasonic CD-rom drive into an old Toshiba 650ct laptop I recieved, but none of the cards are recognized. I can pull up the PCMCIA dialog box and it says that a card is present, but it won't say what that card is. Also in the Device Manager it reports that the hardware is "not present or not working properly"

It's running Win 95a and without an active CD-rom drive I have no means of upgrading the OS except through floppies.

If anyone has any suggestions whatsoever I would greatly appreciate it. I have looked everywhere and have found nothing.

Thank you.

I have exactly the same problem (as yet unresolved).

However, I did manage to upgrade from Win 95 first edition to Win 98 SE using Direct Cable Connection.
