After months of indecisiveness, I finally decided to change my desktop PC from Vista to XP. I expected I'd need to update the drivers, but for the life of me, I cannot connect to the internet. Before I made the switch, the computer could connect perfectly (through our router and cable modem).

Is this a network problem or a driver problem? I've been through the network wizard multiple times with no luck. I have a Velocity Micro Promagix E2035 if that makes any difference.

Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Look in Device Manager and see if the problem is hardware. If no problems there then you must have a software problem.

Updating drivers doesn't happen when you go from Vista to XP. That's a downgrade and requires XP drivers for the hardware.

According to the device manager, it should be working. I went to Velocity Micro's site and downloaded what I thought was the correct driver, but no luck there. Guess I'll try another.

I never was able to fix the problem after installing what should have been the right drivers; I decided to reinstall Vista to end the frustration. I can only assume that some of my hardware was no longer compatible with XP. Good luck to you in solving the problem.
