We have just installed Windows 95 onto an IBM computer after reformatting it. Originally it had Windows 98, but as it is an old computer it struggled running it so we went down a notch.

Windows 95 is running nice and fast, but we are having probs getting what i think is the video card working...

The resolution is stuck on low, and it wont let us change from 16 colours to 256.

I changed the adapter to 'none' and rebooted so it would autodetect, and it said it detected an 'ATI VGA WONDER' monitor/vid card but wanted the driver for it.

Can anyone recommend a good driver for what it is requesting, or maybe a program which can detect exactly what drivers we are going to need to get everything up and running again?

Also, the "ATI VGA WONDER" driver it is requesting... is this for the monitor or vid card?

Many thanks to anyone who can help out.

it's a video card alright, and your going to have to identify the model to get the right drivers. ATI Radeon is famous for hiding a true model number under the guise of ATI-Rage or ATI All In Wonder (all in wonder cards ahouldn't be in a PC that old)
Start by finding the ATI site and look for Legacy Drivers, or goto IBM and do the same, or if I remember correctly some of the older PS2's like the PS1 had a diskette that had everything you need on it.
As far as the problem you described stick a fork in that one, its is definitely a video CARD driver issue. ~~~
Good luck

The solution is to take the video card out and look on it and find the model # and than go to www.driverguide.com and download it. The other option is to go to ATI website and download various drivers that you think might work and try them and until you find one that works.

try to check if your video card is well fixed in the AGP slot, check the signal cable or maybe the problem is the monitor. Try to plug another monitor and see if it works. CHEERS :-}
