Can anyone help me? I recently bought a Belkin USB 2.0 notebook card for my HP pavilion notebook but am having problems with the drivers.

I am running Windows XP (not with SP2). The hardware is detected but numerous attempts to install the drivers with the installation CD and a downloaded driver file from the Belkin website give me an error message on the wizard.

'Can't find the files'

Device manager shows my USB 2.0 hub has an error exclaimation point. I can't seem to install a driver, although I seem to have a ousb2hub.sys file in driver folder.

Any feedback appreciated....

If you only have Windows XP with no service packs installed, you will not be able to use this card with usb 2.0 functionality. XP with sp1 or sp2 is required.

Do you have XP with no service packs installed or Windows XP with sp1 installed? It's better to state what you do have installed rather than what you don't have installed.

This device does not require any driver from Belkin. XP will provide the required support.

Thanks Jerry, I soon realised that I needed XP 2 installed.

XP 2 now installed and the drivers are all recognised by the laptop, however if I plug in a peripheral device (e.g. ipod) Xp freezes totally. Is this an Apple/Windows thing or do I need to disable the USB 1.1 ports in built on my laptop? How would I do this?

Use the Windows XP "Event Log Viewer " to see if any details of the errors (Xp freezes) were loged.
The Belkin (downloaded) driver does not install using the "Windows Hardware Wizard"; unlike the driver on the CD. Run the exe file as the instruction indicate.
For 32bit CardBus to work properly on your notebook you need a fully compliant ACPI BIOS.
If your notebook is an older model running a early version of ACPI BIOS you will have problems.
Power and Power Managenent is a major issue with USB 2.0. Your (e.g. ipod) may draw more power than the CardBus card can supply.
You may need to use the Optional A/C power adapter for the CardBus card.
Check the HP support site for latest BIOS and issues relating to CardBus cards and your notebook.
