I had to replace the teac dvd/cd rw on my laptop because the computer shop couldn't get the driver to work. I got my pioneer dvr-k15 dvdrw/cdrw today...of course it did NOT come with a setup disc. This is a HP ze2000 laptop (about 3-4 yrs old) It will not "plug and play" so I need a driver for this thing. PLEASE HELP!!! I don't know what the interface type is...I don't know what thqt means. I expected to unscrew the old one, slide the new one in and it would work...boy was I wrong

Laptop optical drives are very different than desktop drives in the fact they don't have Master/Slave/CS jumpers like desktop drives do. They are pre-configured at the factory for one of the 3 choices and must be for an exact notebook. If they are not, they have no chance of working.

Optical drives never require a driver other than what is provided natively by the OS. Optical drives are supported natively by the OS and by 3rd. party recording and dvd decoding software.

However, if you got the wrong drive for your system, nothing will make it work. Are you sure you used the proper drive for your system?
