Is the drive listed in My Computer and Device Manager?

Note: Optical drives never require a driver. The OS provides native support for optical drives with built-in drivers.

Yes, the device is listed in the Device Manager but there is a yellow tag on it that is why I suspect the reason why the system does not recognized the drive at all within the WIndows Explorer.

Try deleting the drive in Device Manager, then reboot. Windows will automatically re-detect and install the drive again. Now see if it's still flagged as having a problem.
