I am trying to find out what the INTEL PCI Bridge 244E is used for. I have a new motherboard with all SATA devices attached. Ehen I run driver update software the software implies the current PCI Bridge 244e is not current. I currently have the PCI Bridge 244e dated January 2005 I think. I was able to update to this after a long time following directions with driver detective from the 2001 version. Why is this so difficlut. What problems will this cause?

I am currently using a GIGABYTE mother Board EP35 DS3R with the P35 chipset and the Intel Dual Core Processor E6750 a 2.6 GHz processor. I have 4GByte of DDR RAM. and four Dard drives one Samsung 230- GByte Hard Drive and three Seagate 160 GByte Hard drives. I am very happy with the performance of the motherboard and configuration, I am trying to learn how to determine the status of drivers. and how to instll out dated drivers.
