AC97 is not a sound chipset, it's only a term adopted by Microsoft in 1997 setting sound standards. You will need to provide the following in order to get help:

1: PC system brand and model?
2: motherboard brand and model
3: Sound chipset number?

There are only a few sound chipset makers in the world. Amongst the most common are Realtek, Cmedia, ADI SoundMax, and Sigmatel
