Your drive was shipped with firmware already installed so why do you think you need a firmware update? If it needed a firmware update, Pioneer would have performed that procedure before shipping the drive. I've never seen a drive that wouldn't work with the firmware shipped with it.

Recording is handled by the recording software, not by the firmware or by a driver. If you have a compatible version of Nero (as you say) then you shouldn't have any recording problem. You didn't say what Nero version you are using but it sounds like it's an older version. Try a newer version than you currently have.

i have nero 6.3.1.17, it is not a Nero program, it writes the dvds normally but they appear to be blank after this.
Also i need a firmware for another model k12ra
so my friend your reply did not gave me any help at all because it had nothing to say!

It appears that comprehension is one of your main problems. Read my response again, maybe you'll get more out of it the 2nd. time around.

Is the drive listed in My Computer and Device Manager?

If your problem is non-detection, ie: drive is missing from My Computer) please read post #24 in this thread: http://forums.driverguide.com/showthread.php?t=21669&page=4

It contains instructions on the delete the upper and lower filters fix

Also, there is a STICKY posted in this forum that contains a file from Microsoft and instructions that will do this registry edit automatically instead of having to do it manually.

And here's another method that will do this automatically for you if you're afraid to edit the registry manually.

(automatic fix, post #7, download file: CdGone.zip)

After performing this registry fix, just reboot the pc. Now your drive should be visible in My Computer and work properly.
