My TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R5112 was supplied with Nero software on a CD disk approx. 2yrs ago. Unfortunately, the (InCD) Nero software has NEVER played/burned a DVD disk. My Windows (XP) system usually responded with an error message to lower display resolution or update/install a proper decoder.

Please help to resolve this dillema as my documentation AND media have been separated from me for some time and I would like to finally enjoy the "fruits" of my purchase

Optical drives never require a driver when used in any Windows os from Win95 up. Windows XP provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk. No support for playing dvd disks or for burning dvd or cd-rw disks. For those tasks, compatible 3rd. party recording & dvd decoding software is required.

eg: Nero or Easy Cd Creator (by Roxio)
and
WinDVD or PowerDVD
